[dante can't tell if this is a threat or v showing off or what. needless to say, it's enough to warrant a serious retort--when it comes to vergil and yamato, there's really little room for taking things lightly.]
any tips on how you pulled that one?
you've been holding back on me!
[says the guy who circumvented most of the events of the future v has yet to experience himself.]
so, what are you going to do with it? even in your current form you should be able to carry it around with ease, or am i wrong.
[Likely story? Please. On his end, his lips thin.]
Are you saying that I'm lying?
I plan on keeping it close. [Not helpful, but he thinks Dante is being Difficult right now.] Or perhaps I'll use it as a key to open up a portal to the demon world and have them all start crawling in, one by one.
[but at least he can read the sarcasm spilling over the words.]
that might make this place feel a little bit more like home at least.
[ugh--anyway, time to admit he actually read a thing.]
guess you getting the yamato isn't the first instance of things from people's worlds appearing. it'd be a shame if it got lost in this world, or stolen.
That's correct. Which is why I plan on keeping it close, or keeping it hidden. Swords and any other form of weaponry aren't exactly allowed in this world, which might make the former difficult.
What I mean is that this world is full of places that are less than safe to wander. At least, not for a man in a state such as myself. It would do to have a weapon like Yamato at my side, and someone to wield it. Wouldn't you say?
[and despite his best efforts, it still sounds like v is trying to arrest him with riddle-like quality to his words. it takes dante a moment to respond further, because, for once, he doesn't want to jump to conclusions--and he sure does hate getting called out as being stupid in the eyes of his brother (human-half of his brother or otherwise).]
you want my help, then.
in that case, you know you only need ask. i'm not the complicated one out of the two of us. i'd like to learn about these less-than-safe places.
I do need your help, whenever that might be. I can trust you to wield the Yamato, I assume, as long as you give it back.
[That is the number one rule, a sticking point between brothers that won't ever seem to change, no matter if Vergil manifests himself as Urizen or V, apparently. Give his sword back.]
Not that I expect the need to skewer anyone with it any time soon, but it is as they say... Better safe than sorry. And I would be useless with that blade in-hand, compared to you.
you're right. i doubt you can do anything with it. same as when you had the devil sword in your hands. if it helps you feel better, you can keep the yamato.
i call dibs on monitoring you though.
[consider it a deal, though dante's own end is perhaps more an attempt to show his willingness to hold a fair exchange between the two of them. he'll give, so long as he also gets.]
last time you asked for my help you paid upfront. i'll do this one for free.
since we're family and all.
but.
well. with the yamato here, how about slicing up a portal back home, or is the blade dull in this world?
Aren't you generous. 'Monitoring', however, meaning what exactly? I'll not have you hovering outside my door 24/7; that's simply annoying.
I considered that. But I haven't the strength to do such a thing, nor do I think it would work given that our powers seem to be rather... defunct in this world.
You are more than welcome to give it a swing, though.
["More than welcome" is a liberal use of the term, but as long as he gives it back... it's fine.]

I have Yamato here. With me.

It's neither a threat nor showing off. Vergil may be more prone to such things, but what would V have to gain from it? Little to nothing at all.
If anything, it is a generous sharing of information. He could've just kept it to himself.]
I haven't been holding back. I woke up with it, this morning, with an ache in my chest and Yamato clutched in my hands.
And of course I can carry it. Whether or not I can use it is a different matter entirely.

[everything is suspect!! can't ever trust vergil suddenly "finding himself" with anything, as if he hadn't willed it one way or the other.]
sorry not sorry for the paranoid questions, but what are you planning to do with it?
[you just don't tell dante about having the yamato if there weren't something that v would want done about it. right?]

However, this might be boon to us as well, Dante.

[thankfully he'll never get an address for the place.]
drop it with the suspense and say what you mean, v.

But I don't need a house-warming party.
[He sure won't ever get the address.]

don't worry. no hard feelings.

i got better things to do than "hovering outside your door." so. no. i'm not going to do that. don't worry about it, big brother.
i'll gladly give the yamato a swing, take it out for a spin.
you can have it back after.
[he'll respect v's wishes.]
got some news from my end, too. i got a history in new petersburg as a manager.
some interesting connections have come out of that.

A manager of what?

[please hear the smugness in his written words.]
some bank is offering me a loan.

So what are these connections?

what's that supposed to mean.
[you barely know him!!]
[but on with showing off a little his non-accomplishment]
i curry the favor with some pretty shady individuals. it's weird enough to get recognized by some shop owners.
can come in handy for your little plan.
[less work for dante, he means]
