[Oh my god. What is ACTUALLY happening here. V watches all of this occur before him with some befuddlement, instinctively letting the Dalmatian take the jerky from his hand.
...In retrospect, this shouldn't be too surprising. Juni is just playing her usual part of intrepid adventurer (TM) and, much like their foray into the dungeon together, is taking point when a threat presents itself. And a threat certainly is presenting itself in the most unexpected manner possible — animal control agents that might as well be villainous figures in a children’s Saturday morning cartoon.
But these agents wield those nets with furious deftness, trying to give Juni their all. They might not be fierce as her, but there are three of them, and therefore three nets swiping through the air, sometimes trying to bonk her on the head. Rude!
V sees the strategic value in running away. In fact, he’s done so before when faced with an enemy that might overpower him; however, far be it from him to just run away immediately without lending his friend some aid. He reaches out with his cane to stop the downward arc of another net trying to hit Juni.]
Stop that. Does she look like an animal to you?
(Never mind the bunny ears.) The net hits V’s cane and is jostled free of one agent’s grasp, going flying overhead.
Hey! they remark.]
Oops. Bye now.
[NOW he turns, picking up his cane by its middle, and begins to dart off down the alley. The dog follows him!]
